Description

The Project is intended for the students of the 8th form.
The aim of it is to acquaint students with the specifics of Great Britain, with its geographical and economic situation, history, national-cultural characteristics, peculiarities of the socio-political life,state structure, traditions and habits.
The tasks of the Project are to expand horizons of students, to improve the skills of foreign language communication, to enrich vocabulary, to develop different skills: critical thinking, ability to work with information, different types of reading in the target language (search, scan, studying), written speech, the acquisition of new knowledge, creative thinking, written practice of the target language, skill to work in team, the motivation for independent learning in groups and individually.
The practical, educational, developmental, educational tasks are to extend theknowledge of students; to develop the ability to express their thoughts; to develop the ability to build a monologic statements in English; to enhance the linguistic horizons of the students; to form a stable interest to the English language.

This is not only a lecture course. Class time will be devoted mainly to discuss the readings which will require preparation and participation on your part. We will use the Internet as a resource.

Even if you are experienced with the computers and the software, you should be prepared to spend time outside of class (either at home or at the lab's open hours) on various assignments. During the project you will be required:

•to take part in class participation.


•to make an internet project for your selected topic within the framework of the main theme.

Type

Resource & analysis with elements of a creative nature. The project should contain links to useful sites on the topic of the project, Photo gallery, Glossary, biographies of writers (well-known persons), the texts of literary works, quotations, etc., summary historical background, the husks, etc.), description of its own experiences, impressions, notes, etc.

The structural organization


of the content is at the discretion of the student («mosaic»; «book»; «cascade »).
The nature of contacts: personal contacts; computer-mediated contacts on the basis of e-mail, tele - and video conferences etc.
Duration - 3 months (short-term).
The distribution of responsibilities between the participants: the whole volume of work on the project is divided between the participants of the project in shares, size of which depends on the level of language training and computer literacy of each of the participants, but each member of the team carries out the whole set of different types of work, the proposed project.

The stages of preparation of the project:
1. identification of the subject of information retrieval
2. phasing search with the designation of the intermediate results
3. analytical work on the collected facts
4. conclusions
5. the Adjustment of the initial direction
6. further search for information according to specified areas
7. analysis of new facts
8. synthesis
9. conclusion, results documentation (for the discussion, edit, presentation, external evaluation).

Evaluation

Max. 35% goes for Content (author's texts, lists used by web sites with description):
35%-25% - Lot of interesting material, the original formulation of the problem and its solution;
24%- 15% - Quite an interesting problem, but not disclosed to the end, is not visible independence in its disclosure;
0-14% - Few of the author's text, very superficial interpretation of a theme, the elements of plagiarism/

Max.10% goes for presentation of the material and for the convenient navigation:
10-8% - Logical presentation of the material with very convenient navigation;
7-5% - The logic supply is broken, the navigation is simple enough;
0-4% - There is no logic in presentation of the material, the navigation is difficult.

Max. 30% goes for the language (grammar, spelling, style):
There are no errors (1 grammar error -1%; 1spelling error 0,5%, 1 stylistic error – 1%)

There are some errors (1 grammar error -1%; 1spelling error 0,5%, 1 stylistic error – 1%)
A large number of errors (1 grammar error -1%; 1spelling error 0,5%, 1 stylistic error – 1%).

Max.10% goes for design (color, graphics, images, other effects):
10% - Do not distract from the content, maintaining a common style:
9-6% - Reasonable, there are some errors;
5-0%- Distracting from the content, too many colors and graphics, perception is difficult.

Max.10% goes for Webliography (about 20 links with description):
10-8%- About 20 links with annotation
7-4%- Less than 10 links with annotation
3-0%- Less than 6 links

Max.5% goes for authorship (adequate information about authors):
5%- Adequate information with details and postal address
4-3%- Enough adequate information, there is no postal address
2-0%- Only information of a personal nature, without reference to the site of the faculty (school, class).
